It wasn’t that long ago that Chris Pratt was only known for his breakout role as The Lego Movie’s Emmet Brickowski. Since then, Pratt has become a household name. The actor is the star of one of Marvel’s most beloved movie franchises, Guardians of the Galaxy, and even got top billing in Universal Pictures’ dinosaurs-on-the-loose franchise reboot Jurassic World. With Pratt’s own personal star on a meteoric rise, it’s no surprise that the actor will receive one of the most prestigious honors in his field, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The news comes in courtesy of Ana Martinez, the producer and vice president of media relations for the Hollywood Walk of Fame organization, who revealed Pratt’s addition to Variety.
Pratt’s next film is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the sequel to the 2014 Marvel superhero comedy film Guardians of the Galaxy. The movie will take place three months after the original film, in which the scrappy band of space renegades briefly harnessed the energy of an Infinity Stone to thwart the genocidal plot of Ronan the Accuser. Having saved the planet Xandar, the Guardians are pardoned by the leader of the Nova Corps and have set out to reap the benefits of their newly acquired reputation as galactic saviors. Their next adventure is set to bring them up against a race of genetically perfect aliens, while also answering the big question of Star-Lord’s parentage.
Pratt also recently starred alongside Jennifer Lawrence in the sci-fi adventure film Passengers, in which Pratt and Lawrence’s characters are passengers on a spacecraft who have awakened from their sleep chambers decades before reaching their intended destination.
Pratt is also slated to appear in the upcoming yet-titled sequel to Jurassic World, as well as Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel.
Debuting in theaters on May 5, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt as Star Lord.
