Sebastian Stan Is Up For Portraying A Young Luke Skywalker

Sebastian Stan, famous for his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Bucky Barnes, is up to the task of playing Luke Skywalker. With a thirty-year gap between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, there are plenty of stories Luke Skywalker has that can make it to the big screen. At the Rhode Island Comic Con, Stan said to the audience,

“I just want to say here that anytime anyone would like to call me and ask me about Luke Skywalker I’d be very happy [to play him.]”

Unfortunately, there are official plans at Lucasfilm to delve into the galaxy far, far away in the aftermath of the fall of the Empire. There are a multitude of stories to pull from, made up in comics and novels, that told the adventures of the lonely Jedi during the breaks in the movies. In some, Luke married and had children, all while trying to rebuild the Jedi Order. Considering Luke’s role in the interim periods between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, fans would love to see a young Luke Skywalker once more.

The comparison between the thirty-five year old Stan and twenty-anything year old Mark Hamill is quite uncanny. Hamill has even joked previously about his “son,” Sebastian. The resemblance was pointed out earlier this year, and has made Stan a fan-favorite in portraying the young Jedi.

The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15, 2017, and will follow Hamill’s Skywalker and Daisy Ridley’s Rey, along with other prominent characters, in the fight against the Dark Side.
