Brad Pitt And Rachel Weisz In Talks To Join Kingsman Prequel (And Other Details)

Mark Millar has lent a hand in changing the comic book game, whether it had been the titles Wanted, Kick-Ass, Civil War, Old Man Logan, or Kingsman. The most recent film adaptation based on his works, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, hit theaters on late-September of last year and received mixed reviews from fans and critics alike. New reports have surfaced as Matthew Vaughn (director of the two Kingsman movies and Kick-Ass) is planning to work on a Kingsman shared universe. This includes a television series, a Statesmen movie spin-off, and a third Kingsman film.

In an article by Screen Rant, Vaughn is in the works of a prequel film titled Kingsman: The Great Game, which will focus on the early days of the Kingsman agency and is eyeing actors Brad Pitt and Rachel Weisz in key roles. Ralph Fiennes (the Harry Potter cinematic universe and Skyfall) and Harris Dickinson were previously reported to have joined the cast.

Screen Rant also references That Hashtag Show to back their claim. According to THS:

The Great Game will be set during World War I and Vaughan and company have made the commitment to center the film around some of the most important people and events of the early 20th century.

Dickinson will be playing a youthful character named Conrad, “a cocky young son of … the Duke and Duchess of Oxford [who is] determined to serve his country.” The character will “will find himself thrust into the midst the world of espionage with some of history’s most dangerous spies and assassins.” Fiennes is said to portray the Duke, Conrad’s father.

Weisz (The Mummy) is rumored to portray Conrad’s nanny, Polly. No details have been confirmed of the character other than the fact that she will be “another prominent member of the Oxford household” and “a ruthless force of nature.”

Pitt (Fury, Fight Club) will play “one of the most enigmatic and influential figures of WWI: Grigori Rasputin, a controversial figure in Russia [who] gained considerable influence over Tsar Nicholas II after ‘healing’ his hemophiliac son Alexi.” The Great Game will focus on the character’s “‘unscrupulous and Machiavellian’ ways in the final days of the Russian Imperialism.”
