Early ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse’ Reactions Are Profoundly Impressed

Six months have passed since Tom Holland’s Peter Parker turned into ash in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s blockbuster film Avengers: Infinity War and only time will tell how much longer fans will have to wait to see him again. As we await a trailer for the fourth Avengers film–one with a title that has yet to be revealed–Marvel has graced us with another Spider-Man film in the meantime. Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is due to hit theaters in less than three weeks and shall include a roster consisting of multiple web-slingers with spider powers. Social media reactions so far say it is the best comic book film yet and one of the best this year has to offer.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (the duo behind films such as The Lego Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street and its sequel) made and produced the film and brought in creative minds to endow it with a unique near-tantalizing animation style by “combining Sony Pictures’ in-house computer animation with traditional hand-drawn comic book techniques inspired by the work of Miles Morales’s co-creator Sara Pichelli.” This took up as much as 140 animators, the largest crew ever used by Sony Pictures Animation for a film. Into the Spider-Verse is also praised for its emotionally heart-driven story led by Miles Morales, a character fans have been waiting to see on the big screen for.

Reactions from early screenings claim its action sequences and visual style were truly remarkable with “a familiar territory [for] Peter Parker’s Spider-Man [integral to its] refreshing change of pace for audiences old and new to the Spider-Verse.”

Cinema Blend also calls the film “a brand new way to cover similar ground but with different and more exciting results.”

In addition, Alison Foreman of Mashable says, “this experimental Spider-Man exploration is anything but overhyped. Miles feels like the perfect representation of not only the beloved comic book character but also of the heroes our stories need today.”

Are these details enough to make you want to see this film? What are your thoughts so far? How big of a Spider-Man fan are you? Let us know! Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hits theaters on December 14th, 2018.
